On October 8th 2016 Bishop Andrew opened the Spirituality Centre at the Cathedral with this blessing and prayer:

“Today I am delighted to bless the Spirituality Centre that has been established here at the Cathedral. In doing so we are acknowledging the presence and ministry of the Religious Orders* amongst us and offered through this unique and committed partnership here in Waiapu Cathedral.

Loving God, we ask you to bless this Cathedral Spirituality Centre, that it might become a place that strengthens the work of Christ in this place through the spiritual arts of prayer, teaching, creativity and the companioning of the Christian life.”

10 years on, the Spirituality Centre again commits to strengthen the work of Christ here at the Cathedral and to the wider community:  through the offering of Daily Prayer, Christian Meditation, Quiet Days, explorations in Spiritual creativity, and the companioning for any who seek to grow in their walk with God.

Bishop Andrew has offered his encouragement to this ministry a decade on from its inception.

“As we offer grateful thanks for the ministry over this past decade, we also look ahead with confidence to the future. May the ministry offered through the Spirituality Centre continue to enable people to flourish in their life in God through deeper discipleship, discerning vocation, and living a faith that gives life. May God continue to bless the ministry that is offered through this Spirituality Centre.”
