What Makes Us Special
We treasure the fact that we have a long history with the people and places of our communities. With both beautiful and messy stories, we strive to live out the best expression of the good news of reconciliation and grace.
Wherever you are on the eastern part of Te Ika-a-Māui, there is an expression of our church. Through generations, we have served the cities, villages and settlements we call home through the love of Jesus Christ. At heart, we are a local church.
In a world of empire-building churches and celebrity pastors, we choose a different path. We want to be a people that seek first the kingdom of God, an expression of the flourishing of humankind and creation that is infectious to desire.
What we do
The Anglican Diocese of Waiapu is a church with a difference. With a long history of loving service borne from a deeply rooted faith, we not only serve through worship and community, but through active social service agencies and community investment. At the heart of who we are as the Anglican Church in the Diocese of Waiapu is the local expression of the church. Wherever you live, there will be a church, a mission, a school or a community where you can belong.
Serving our communities is central to what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Out of this desire, we have created Anglican Care Waiapu which seeks to help people live fulfilled lives in connected communities.

We are a church blessed by generations of generosity that have allowed us to build community buildings and invest in our future. Now we are leveraging that blessing to bless our communities by addressing social need.
