About the Role
St John’s Anglican Church, Ōtūmoetai, is seeking a half‑time Vicar to lead the parish in a new season of faith, mission, and community engagement. This appointment is well suited to an experienced priest seeking a balanced role that combines parish leadership with flexibility, or someone discerning a sustainable pattern of ministry.
The Role
The Vicar will have overall responsibility for the spiritual, pastoral, and missional leadership of the parish, working closely with the Vestry and parish leaders. The role is half‑time (0.5 FTE) and includes:
Leadership of worship and preaching
Pastoral care and oversight of parish life
Encouraging lay ministry and shared leadership
Supporting the parish’s engagement with its local community
Collaborative leadership within the Diocese of Waiapu
Housing and Stipend
Housing is provided in the parish vicarage
Stipend and conditions are in accordance with diocesan guidelines, pro‑rated for a half‑time appointment

Requirements
About You
We are looking for a priest who:
Is ordained and licensed (or eligible for licensing) within the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia
Has sound pastoral and liturgical skills
Values collaborative ministry and the nurturing of lay gifts
Is prayerful, compassionate, and able to lead with wisdom and hope
Is open to part‑time ministry with a clear sense of boundaries and sustainability
Will support the Diocesan vision and strategic priorities and implement them at a local level
