Waiapu Anglican Social Services Trust Board appoints new Kaihautū to lead Anglican Care Waiapu.

E te whanau a te Karaiti ki Waiapu.

On behalf of WASSTB I have great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Rawhia Te Hau Grant to the role of Kaihautū for Anglican Care Waiapu (ACW). In this role Rawhia will lead the organisation to further develop the full potential for ACW as part of the Diocese of Waiapu in seeking to bring about Te Oranga Ake o Te Iwi, o Te Ao, the Flourishing of Life for all people.

Rawhia (Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Tuwharetoa) brings extensive experience in senior leadership, education, change management, community engagement, Te Tiriti, and human rights. Rawhia is a mother of five tamariki, who inspire her every day and are her best teachers.

Rawhia joins us from Te Kāhui Tika Tangata (The Human Rights Commission), where she has held various senior leadership positions, including Kaitahutahu Panonitanga Tiriti (Tiriti Change Manager) and acting Co-Pou Arahi (Deputy CE). In these roles, she played a pivotal part in guiding Te Kāhui Tika Tangata towards becoming a Tiriti-based organisation.

One of Rawhia’s core values is whanaungatanga. She deeply believes in the significance of connections and relationships fostered through shared experiences and creating a sense of belonging. She eagerly anticipates being welcomed into the Anglican Care Waiapu Whānau and is excited to contribute to the remarkable work the organization undertakes.

Rawhia will take up this role at the start of November 2024 and we look forward to preparing opportunities for Rawhia to be welcomed into Waiapu and Anglican Care Waiapu and visiting our centres and services.

The Board joins me in offering our gratitude for Joanne Morris who has stepped up into the CEO role since Lucy Laitinen resigned in 2023. Joanne has held this space with integrity and care for ACW and we look forward to Joanne’s continuing involvement with ACW as she moves into her role as GM People and Culture in November this year.

From, Bishop Andrew Hedge
